Hi! I'm so glad you've found your way here! We are a small family farm located in the Northern Michigan woods. Specializing in raising quality Barbet's for wonderful families. We also raise a small herd of East Friesian dairy sheep for our family; and potentially yours too! Jesus comes first around the farm, and His character is woven into everything we do.

Ya know what prepared me for the heartache of today?

CSA.

Being subject to a narcissistic mother for over a decade.

Watching those I love suffer & feeling utterly helpless.

Having an addictive personality and relying solely on Christs strength to pick me up from pits I hand dug.

Moving Holstein cows at 5 years old solo.

Being a “human fence” for my dad when the cows got out.

Getting the wrong wrench while dad was working on the merger.

Problem sheep.

I’ll bounce back. I always do—but not in my own strength.

Only in His.

Be honest & humble enough to admit when you followed your flesh too far.

Then… Grab His hand as He towers over the pit of despair your flesh deceived you into believing would make you “happy,” and rise again.

That’s it. That’s today’s encouragement.

It’s been an entire year since that heart-shattering conversation.

It wasn’t heart-shattering in the way you would think, though…

He just said it out loud. That simple sentence as he restarted the song.

“This song…” Long pause as he processed. I watched his throat bob as he swallowed—preparing for what he was about to say. “Makes me think of you.”

That was all it took.

The song did the rest.

A few weeks earlier, I had completely lost it on my best friend of a decade out of absolute jealousy because I had a dream we got matching tattoos and woke up and realized I’ll never be that girl for her.

I turned downright mean… but you want to know the truth?

It was the gummies…

I had been too far in for too long, and I was forgetting who I was.

That Canada trip was my first step into sobriety. For obvious reasons, it wasn’t really a choice. But it absolutely wasn’t going across the border with me🫣☠️

And in that timeframe, I thought clearer, laughed harder, and genuinely felt like myself again for the first time in forever.

Writing out my story of childhood s€xual buse to publish took a toll on me. The woman at church who boldly spewed that she wouldn’t read my book because it brought shame to my family—wrecked me.

I began to spiral. Stepping back into old patterns of survival as all of my animals began to die from unknown causes, our children started acting up, and life simply got HARD.

So instead of facing it—I turned to grass for help.

It was wildly unhealthy, and I truly was becoming someone I didn’t even recognize.

And then that Canada trip landed at the perfect time for God to open up my heart the same way He had been through that old bay horse who was teaching me so many biblical lessons—even in the high.

We came home, and it escalated.

I was high 24/7 and running from the reality that God has called me to write about hard subjects and blow stigmas out of the water.

I used to think blood got the final say.

My dad’s blood I wanted. I was—and still am—thankful it flows through my veins.

My mom’s blood I craved.

And for a long time, I thought the mother’s blood I’d been given meant I could never have the mother’s blood I wanted.

Turns out, I was looking for her in my blood when God had already given her to me in the water.

Still, I let labels cling to me because I thought blood got to name me.

I thought where it flowed from mattered.

The hurt.
The fear.
The abandonment.

Like somehow it had gotten into my blood and that meant it had to stay there.

But God.

And if He hasn’t spent a lifetime showing me just how wrong I’d been✨

Because blood can tell me where I came from. But it is not thicker than water. Just ask my mom—the one who CHOSE me and still chooses me every single day.

And His blood?

His blood tells me who I am.

And suddenly, I don’t need a different beginning.

I can hold the beautiful parts with both hands. I can tell the truth about the parts that hurt. And I can trust Jesus with every messy piece in between.

I can look at my babies and know that redemption was never mine to manufacture for them.

Jesus already did that.

Maybe that’s what I’ve been learning all along.

Blood matters. Water matters too—my mom made dang sure I knew that❤️‍🩹

The common thread that weaves us together is the Blood that matters most.

The kind that bought me.
Covered me.
Called me His.

Jesus.

He’s the bloodline✨

Revelation 12:11

They aren’t missing. They aren’t absent from the world. They’re being built for it.

They’re behind their mamas learning tenderness and conviction and how to make a home feel safe. They’re behind their daddies learning steadiness and responsibility and what it means to protect something you love. They’re being allowed to be little before the world starts demanding that they be big.

And then someday—you let go of the arrow.

Not so they can recreate exactly what you built. Not so their lives look exactly like yours. But so they can start where you finished.

You climb as high as you can with everything your parents gave you and everything you had to learn yourself. Then you kneel down, lace your hands together, and say:

Here. Stand on me.

And suddenly your ceiling is beneath their feet.

Then they climb higher.

And if we’re building generational wealth as we should, our children do the same for theirs.

That’s true freedom. True generational wealth. Not growth in money—growth in character. Resilience. Our strength becomes the one sending them forth to conquer all of the things we simply never could.

That is one powerful answer to “Where are all the young people following Jesus?”

They’re right here.
Behind us.
And we’re getting them ready😭🤎

My heart still aches like it did that day.

I’ve never felt a song so deep in my bones as I sang over my little sister to one day spread her wings and fly and breakaway.

I knew what I was singing over her at 11. I knew what I prayed over her every single night as she snuggled next to me in bed.

She was the light of my little world and all I wanted was to keep her from the world of pain that I’d already endured.

But God had different plans. He’s writing her testimony and I have to trust that even though we don’t get to do life together like I prayed we one day would—I get to love her tenderly from a state away and trust that God has her in the palm of His hand.

Because that’s how blind faith sometimes works friends. Crying out to a loving Father in heaven who hears our voice. Who doesn’t always spare pain in the breakaway process—BUT HE ALWAYS MAKES A WAY.

When it was used as a weapon your entire childhood it’s hard not to hear silence and have alarm bells immediately start going off.

The silent treatment? It was my birth mom’s favorite game. The place she chose to hold power was by keeping as much information to herself and only sharing when it suited her to do so.

It was wicked behavior. Manipulative.

To a little girl who just simply wanted to know what time her dad was coming to get her—it was downright cruel.

It was the cleanest weapon she could’ve ever picked up. And it always seems to be that way in broken situations.

We choose to pick up the cleanest weapon we can if possible. We choose verbal abuse, the silent treatment, physical abuse, neglect, selfishness and many others.

But the weapons we choose always seem to be a double edge sword. Inflicting as much pain on us as we wield them as it does on those we are defending ourselves from.

I always wonder if it hurt her to hurt me. If it gave her pause when I’d go rigid and pretend like her words or lack there of sometimes—didn’t hurt.

I’d turned my heart to stone to survive a season of pain. Sometimes I crave that heart of stone. The one who chose to stay uninvested, uninterested, and simply uninvolved.

Sometimes I lay awake at night and wrestle with the Lord asking Him to please let me be a recluse and still somehow serve His kingdom… but those two things simply can’t go hand in hand.

Silence isn’t always punishment—and I’m learning this. But when your foundation of silence was weaponized it’s hard to see the good in waiting in the stillness.

In trusting God in the silence.

And knowing that regardless if this time silence is a weapon or not—you can trust the God who chose to stay silent for 3 days as He changed the trajectory of our entire lives🙌🏽

Silence isn’t always punishment—even if it still feels like it is.

I never know what to post anymore.

Because I’m so invested. I’m so involved here at the home front that posting seems like the most inconvenient thing I have or want to make time for.

We’re called to be invested at home for certain seasons. Not for our entire lifetime. So I’ll relish this season. Because I know the next one coming around the corner is going to knock the wind out of me again and I’ll have to learn how to navigate unknown territory with full trust in the Lord.

This season? This home? It is the curriculum I’m currently under. The long nights and hard days are preparation for long nights and hard days lamenting at the foot of the cross for my children. Lord willing my children’s, children.

That’s true generational freedom.

Not oppression.

A lineage fought for in the trenches. On hands and knees crying out to a Savior who has promised to be with us wherever we go.

What the world calls oppression is true freedom.

I’ve felt it.

I’ve seen it.

I’ve lived it.

You can’t convince me otherwise.

A mid-summer, Midwest trip was exactly what our family needed! We slipped away and our farm sitter kept everything alive and thriving here at home so we could sneak away and enjoy some good oppression together✨🤠🫶🏼

Anyways. Not sure where all that went. Stay bold. Stand firm.

Be proud to be that momma. That wife. That daughter of the one true King.

I love farm lessons laced with truth🥰

I’ve worked with Cowgirl since the day she was born. Preparing her for the day that I would sit down beside her and milk her.

Starting day one while her mom was grained made it effortless for everyone. The stand became comfortable.

Her shepherdess sitting beside her became comfortable too.

Soon gentle strokes and hoof holds.

It was diligent. And thoroughly sought out.

It was intentional.

And that was something I didn’t realize until I sat down next to Cowgirl for the very first time, choosing to record not knowing what would happen—and she did exactly what I had trained her to do.

She was prepared. She knew what was coming because her routine from birth had been full of comfort. —at her stand, with her shepherd, being filled with good nourishment.

The life I so desperately strive for. The life that feels like home.

It’s bittersweet to let these guys go to their new families! These pups are amazing yesterday, today, and will for sure be amazing tomorrow!

What changed?

I asked the Lord to increase my faith. I got honest with myself and said—I want more of Him and less of the world.

I got hungry. STARVING actually for His word. Because somehow, someway I allowed the enemy to infiltrate my mind.

I was forgetting to renew my mind.

To put on the full armor and stand firm when the tactics of the enemy came against me.

I allowed myself to run on empty for too long—not prioritizing rest in the wilderness with Christ like I so longed to do.

That’s what changed. I stood up. Remembered my identity in Christ and had a complete meltdown on my MIL, received some good wisdom and encouragement and stepped out in faith that God would meet me in my valley.

And He did. Yet again.

He did🤎 Just remember that we change-while He never stops being exactly who He said He is. And for that I'm so darn grateful. Hebrews 13:8

It’s butterfly season, leave me alone while I master the consistency I want in my eggy pudding-while milking goats & sheep, designing, homeschooling 4 kids, raising & house training 9 puppies, running a small farm porch, starting a candy co. with the kids, writing novels because why not & running a goat milk soap gig for the joy of it on the side when I'm able-which is like neverrrr🦋✨

Depression is no joke.

Being overwhelmed isn’t a cake walk either.

We all know this I’m certain of it.

You know what’s not a joke?! Moving your feet and starting a new project while trusting that God will see you through this season as faithfully as He did the last.

FINALLY making time to set up my new @landguard_gardening raised garden bed! I have been wracking my brain since they sent me this beautiful bed since early spring on where I wanted this gorgeous bed to go.

Michigan decided to be a jerk and give us the longest spring ever… so finally being able to design, create, & enjoy a new space will surely help that depression.

I was always so afraid to become a mom.

Afraid that I’d become *her.

But, God✨🦋🤎

He reminds me everyday that I don’t have to follow the heartaches of my bloodline—and can claim His instead❤️‍🩹

I may have just met you last year.

And you weren’t mine for 30 years.

But you helped heal pieces of me that I refused to look at.

You were solid and you were soft.

You were safe and you were sturdy.

You met me at the gate almost every day whether I had grain or not.

When the vet came out to give you your wings—you ran to me in the paddock.

And as he stood behind me next to my husband he quietly said, “that’s a bond I love to see. You’ve got a good friend right there.”

A piece of my heart chipped off and you were quick to scoop it up and carry it with you.

I’m not saying you carried it to glory—but I’m sure thankful that God goodness touched this earth on the day you were born sweet boy.

He knew we needed each other. And though I couldn’t get you to 30—we sure got dang close old man.

I’ll love you forever.

Rest easy Bae. You are missed tenderly—but I’m so thankful you gave me all the healing and rides you could before you had to go.

If I could rewrite the lyrics to, “I hope you dance” to every single victim and warrior of CSA and any form of SA at that matter.

The chorus would start like this:

I hope you speak🎶

Because God didn’t meet you under that bed, in that closet, or in that room full of people—to let your story have no power. He gave your story power when He rescued you from the pits of despair and gave you hope.

There is hope.

The only hope for being set free from all the darkness we endured in the silent closed door rooms— is Jesus Christ, sister.

Stand firm among a crooked and preverse generation and love not your life to the death.

Share your story. Honor others while you do it—but for the love of Jesus SPEAK!

My heart has always been drawn towards therapy work. And while it was possible with our corgis—the shift to the Barbets have blown doors wide open that used to hardly crack for us in the therapy world.

Once Gertie’s puppies leave us this summer she will be completing her CGC testing (again because mom missed the deadline for filing her paperwork) and begin working towards her THDN (AKC Therapy Dog Novice) title.

We have 4 families committed on our waiting list with room for a few more families.

Tell your friends! But only if they’re serious and want the world’s best couch potato / hiking buddy combo. Barbets are naturally hypoallergenic and low to non-shedding. They require a great groomer relationship and someone committed to grooming once a day to ensure their coat stays nice and unmated.

We have loved being owned by this beloved breed. Sharing them with families around the US is an added bonus of being able to fill our living room with new life once a year🐾
